Tilak Varma was in marauding form in the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa. The batter was sent into bat at number four in the first and second T20I, and he scored 33 off 18 and 20 off 20 respectively. India captain, Suryakumar Yadav revealed that Tilak confronted him and requested him to promote up the order in the third T20I.

As it stands out, the southpaw smashed his maiden international ton. He scored an unbeaten 107 off 56 balls, laced with eight boundaries and seven maximums. He continued the onslaught in the second T20I as well and blasted an unbeaten 120 off just 47 balls, complimented by nine boundaries and 10 maximums. His strike rate in the third T20I was 191.07 and the fourth T20I was 255.32. He was adjudged Player of the in the third and fourth T20I and was also the Player of the series.
