Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Kedar Jadhav made a straightforward remark on skipper MS Dhoni’s retirement in the IPL. Notably, at 41, Dhoni has featured in 238 matches thus far in the top-tier league and recently led the yellow brigade in his 200th game as skipper of the side against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday, April 12.

While there is much speculation on Dhoni’s retirement and the 16th edition of the IPL potentially being his final one, the skipper is yet to give an official confirmation on this front. However, former teammate, Kedar Jadhav stated that he is ‘2000%’ certain about Dhoni’s retirement following the conclusion of the season.

“I am telling you this with 2,000 per cent certainty that this will be MS Dhoni’s final season as a player in IPL. Dhoni will turn 42 this July. Although still fit, Dhoni is also a human after all. So, I think this will be his final season. Fans shouldn’t be missing any of his matches, they should be watching every ball he’s in the field,” Kedar told during an interaction with News18 CricketNext.

Broke viewership record when Dhoni was batting: Kedar Jadhav

The legendary CSK skipper is among the few players who have a massive following regardless of the venue. During the clash against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday, April 12, Dhoni led the franchise in his 200th game as captain.

While the stadium at the MA Chidambaram Stadium garnered massive attendance, the digital viewership too skyrocketed during Dhoni’s batting in the chase. Kedar, who is also a JioCinema IPL expert, stated that the CSK skipper helped garner remarkable viewership during his batting.

“We also broke record on JioCinema the other day when Dhoni was batting,” Kedar referred to 2.2 crore viewers tuning in to witness the CSK skipper take centerstage. Notably, Dhoni nearly took his side to the finish line with his explosive knock of 32* off 17 balls. However, Rajasthan Royals just edged past CSK by three runs to win the high-octane thriller.
