Former England skipper Eoin Morgan is reported to become England’s next white-ball head coach. The reports on Tuesday, July 23, suggested that Morgan could replace Matthew Mott as the next white-ball coach. It is worth noting that the change in leadership is being looked upon after England’s failed title defense of the ODI and T20 World Cups.

Reports suggested that Mott would leave the post, and England has started to sound out possible candidates. While Morgan has been linked to the job, the former skipper came forward to quickly debunk such rumours.

“This news is actually news to me, It’s obviously not nice when a coach comes under fire and there is a lot of speculation about his future, but only time will tell what will happen,” Morgan told SkySports.

Furthermore, Morgan opined that he would love the opportunity to coach a team down the line, but the timing has to be correct. He revealed that, currently, his priority lies with being with his family.

“I’ve been asked a lot [in the media] over the past couple of months about the role, and if I would take it on, my answer has simply been that the timing for everything in my life at the moment is not right. Yes, I want to coach down the line. But I have a young family, and I spend a lot more time at home and watching cricket doing this [commentary]. I’m absolutely loving what I’m doing,” said Morgan.

It is also worth noting that England’s managing director, Rob Key, recently came forward and stated that a review of the side’s performances in white-ball cricket could come to light in the coming weeks. A lot of pressure could be put on Matthew Mott and England’s white-ball skipper, Jos Buttler, who is currently out with a calf injury.
