USA shocked Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup with a win over them at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Be it with the ball or with the bat, the Monank Patel-led side was clinical and picked up an important win, which pushed their chances to make it into the Super 8. Batting first, the visitors struggled to get going as they lost three wickets in the powerplay and eventually posted 159 runs on the board.

In reply, USA batters looked in good touch, especially skipper Monank, who made 50 runs off 38 balls. Things got a bit complicated towards the end as the USA bottled their chance to win it in 40 overs as the match went to Super Overs. In the Super Over, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir leaked 18 runs, which included multiple extras. Pakistan failed to chase that down and registered their first loss in the tournament.

Analysing Pakistan’s performance in the Super Over, former cricketer Yuvraj Singh noted that the Men in Green made a blunder and should have let Fakhar Zaman take the strike against left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar. He added saying that Pakistan are now in a tough spot and need to beat India on June 9 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium to remain in the Super 8 race.

“I don’t understand why dint @FakharZamanLive take strike to a lefty seamer—when it is easier for a left-hander to hit through the angle that bowler is tryin to create. Nonetheless have to give it #TeamUSA @usacricket for making smart decisions under pressure specially the captain Monank Patel. Now, Pakistan needs a must-win against India and they surely need to bat and field better!” wrote Yuvraj on X (formerly Twitter).

Skipper Babar too was disappointed following the defeat. The 29-year-old noted that the bowlers couldn’t do their job in the first six overs and believes that the batters too underperformed. The skipper himself made 44 runs off 43 deliveries, which also received a lot of criticism from the fans and the critics alike.
