‘They can do whatever they want’ – Pat Cummins reflects on Head-Siraj scuffle
The rivalry between India and Australia is catching heat as the days pass. The same was evident during the second Test at the Adelaide Oval. Travid Head was in marauding form and Mohammed Siraj dropped his catch when the southpaw had just reached his half century at a blistering pace. He went onto notch up 140 runs at nearly a run-a-ball.
Just when the game was slipping with every boundary coming off Head’s bat, Mohammed Siraj cleaned him with a dipping full toss. He not only got his wicket, but gave an aggressive send off, triggering a verbal war between the two. After the game, Australia captain, Pat Cummins was queried about the tussle and his player’s conduct, to which he replied “they can do whatever they want”.

“To be honest, they can do whatever they want. I’m more worried about our boys and like always, I thought our boys’ behaviour was excellent this week, like it seems to be every week. So I’m happy with them. I was out there. It’s heated, it’s a big series, it’s been packed crowds all the days, so there’s a lot riding on it. I think the umpires stepped in pretty quickly and that was the end of it,” Cummins said as quoted by Fox Sports.
Speaking of the game, India were bundled for just 180 runs in the first innings before, thanks to Head’s sensational ton at his home ground, Australia secured a lead of 157 runs. But India’s batting faltered again and they provided a meagre target of 19. The Aussies eventually won the game by 10 wickets and the five match Border-Gavaskar Trophy is poised at 1-1. The third Test is scheduled to commence at The Gabba, Brisbane from December 14.
