India’s former cricketer Harbhajan Singh praised Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’s MS Dhoni for his excellent wicketkeeping skills in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The 43-year-old stumper-batter, who underwent knee surgery last year, was outstanding with the gloves. His lightning-fast speed behind the stumps was evident last night in the game against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) when he dismissed captain Suryakumar Yadav.

In the 11th over, Yadav tried to play an inside-out shot off Noor Ahmad but misinterpreted the line of the ball and missed it. The ball went straight to the keeper, and Dhoni made no mistake in collecting the ball and destroying the stumps before the batter could bring his bat inside the crease. Yadav was way out of the crease by the time Dhoni hit the stumps. Dhoni took 0.12 seconds to complete the stumping, which is simply outstanding.

The crowd went crazy after the dismissal, and the videos went viral on social media, where everyone praised him for being the best keeper, even at such an age. The player even came to bat at the No. 8 position but faced just two balls. Harbhajan also spoke about MI and their batting in his YouTube video.

“There is no wicketkeeper like MS Dhoni, even today. At this age, wicketkeeping like that was lightning-quick. I feel MI will be sad because they could have batted better. It was the first match. If five or six matches had been played on this pitch, then MI’s total could have been a winning one,” he said.

The entire stadium was filled with enthusiasm: Harbhajan

Harbhajan Singh emphasized the fact that the crowd loved the presence of MS Dhoni on the crease. The batter didn’t play more than two balls, but the Chepauk atmosphere lit up the entire time he was there. The love for Dhoni is beyond words, and the crowd proves it every year by following him throughout the country.

“When Dhoni came out to bat, he played two balls, but the entire stadium was filled with enthusiasm,” he said further.
