England women’s Grace Scivens recently suffered a nasty injury in the ongoing In The Hundred women 2024 after she was hit in the face with a cricket ball while she was trying to take a catch. The incident occurred during a game between Trent Rockets women and London Spirit women at the Trent Bridge.

The 20-year-old scored 55 runs to help Rockets register a win, but was also left with a black eye and a bruise on her cheek as a result of her dropping the catch. India women’s Deepti Sharma swept a ball from Kirstie Gordon straight at Scrivens.

However, as the ball fell through her hands onto her face, Scrivens was quickly escorted off the field by the physio. Appearing shocked as she left the field, Scrivens made her return to greet her Rockets teammates after the win with the bruise on her face even bigger.

Trent Rockets women limit London Spirit to subpar total

Speaking of the game between both sides, the clash began with Trent Rockets women coming in to bat first. The side opened with Bryony Smith and Scrivens scoring 34 and 55 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 21 runs in 12 deliveries.

Furthermore, Heather Graham went unbeaten by a score of 22 runs, as the Rockets posted a total of 158 runs in the first innings. As for Spirit women, Deepti Sharma took two wickets, with Sarah Glenn striking once each.

Aiming to chase down the target, London Spirit women opened with Meg Lanning and Georgia Redmayne scoring 23 and three runs, respectively. Furthermore, Heather Knight scored 29 runs, alongside Deepti Sharma, who added 30* runs on the board. However, the Rockets’ bowling attack proved to be too much to handle for Spirit.

Ashleigh Gardner and Alana King were the only wicket takers for Rockets women, taking three wickets each. Spirit scored 127 runs in a run chase of 159 and lost the game by 31 runs.
