The Board of Control for Cricket in India have remained reluctant to send India over to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy to be held in February and March of 2025.
This comes after a preliminary schedule has been submitted from the end of the Pakistan Cricket Board to the International Cricket Council. According to it, all of India’s matches are scheduled to be played at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore while the blockbuster clash between the arch-rivals is slated on March 1.
In the same vein, former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter, Moin Khan, has joined the bandwagon of putting forth an open request to the ex-cricketers of India to try and convince their nation’s governing body to disregard the political relationship between the two countries and send the Indian contingent to participate in the mega-event next year.
“Former India cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Kapil Dev, Rahul Dravid, etc., should tell their cricket board to keep politics away from cricket. Cricket should not be obstructed by political issues. The fans would love to see India and Pakistan play. It will not only benefit Pakistan, but overall cricket will be benefitted,” stated Moin, as quoted by India Today.
India ought to honour their commitments with the ICC: Moin
Speaking further, the former World Cup winner insisted on Pakistan to return the favour if India does not end up travelling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year.
“India ought to honour their commitments with the ICC. And if they do not come, then Pakistan should reconsider their decision to participate in any future events slated to be held in India” added Moin.

Interestingly, this is not the first time India has not travelled to Pakistan for an event. The Asia Cup was originally to be hosted by Pakistan, but Sri Lanka had to come into the blend with the Indian team playing all their matches in the island nation.
India last toured Pakistan in 2008 and has not done so ever since.
