In the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL 2023, spinner Harpreet Brar wreaked havoc, picking up four wickets to completely demolish DC’s batting unit. Notably, chasing 168 runs, the home team started really well as openers David Warner and Phil Salt looked really good with the bat. However, Brar dismissed Salt, Rilee Rossouw, David Warner, and Manish Pandey in quick succession to bring PBKS back to the game.
Meanwhile, former India opener Virender Sehwag compared Harpreet Brar’s delivery that dismissed Manish Pandey to Shane Warne’s ‘ball of the century’. He also lauded the cricketer for being brilliant with the ball in the powerplay and also mentioned that the 27-year-old was intelligent with his line and length.
“Brar was incredible. To bowl an over in the powerplay and being hit for runs, the way he made a comeback in wonderful fashion. The ball that got Manish Pandey was like Shane Warne’s ball of the century. The ball that sent Warner packing was also good; Rilee Rossouw played a bad shot. But overall, it was very intelligent bowling from Brar,” Sehwag stated while talking to Cricbuzz.
“This is the first time that Punjab won due to the Punjabis. Be it Prabhsimran or Brar, both of them play for PCA and PBKS and won the game for their side with wonderful displays,” the former cricketer added.
When those four wickets fell, the match slipped away from DC’s hand: Sehwag
Sehwag also stated that the four wickets that DC lost in quick succession ultimately cost them the match. He added that the David Warner-led side should have shown patience and in case they would have, the results could have been different.
“When those four wickets fell, the match slipped away from DC’s hand. It was a poor batting display from DC. If the DC batters had shown patience, the runs were there and the result could have been different,” Sehwag added.
Notably, after the win, PBKS moved to number six on the IPL points table while DC remain at the bottom.
