India ended the 11-year-long ICC trophy drought by winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados on June 29. The Men-In-Blue showed grit and resilience against South Africa in the final to snatch a victory out of the jaws of defeat. As the whole of India congratulated the team, BCCI provided a check of INR 125 crore for the team including the support staff and reserve players.

As the gifting bandwagon was catching heat, the Telangana government announced that Mohammed Siraj would be gifted a residential plot and a government job for his performance in the marquee event. On July 9, Telangana’s Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy met the India pacer and felicitated him with a flower bouquet. Siraj took to his social media account to thank the CM for the honour and pledged to bring more such wins for the country.

Here’s Siraj’s latest post on ‘X’:

My only belief was on Jassy bhai: Siraj

Siraj, who belongs to the state of Telangana, conducted a road show in his hometown after Team India’s victory parade in Mumbai. Following this, the government announced the gift for their beloved cricketer. It was reported that the CM had asked officials to find a suitable plot for the right-arm pacer and a government job. It is worth noting that Siraj did not feature in the playing XI after featuring in the first three games and picking just one wicket. However, he credited Jasprit Bumrah and termed him as a game-changer.

“My only belief was on Jassy bhai. He’s the only game-changer. Whatever I thought exactly happened.”Unbelievable feeling guys. I can’t explain. Last World Cup, I lost the final. Every professional cricketer wants to win the World Cup final. I’m grateful I’m here and thankful,” said Siraj as quoted by HT.
