India and Sri Lanka locked horns in the Asia Cup 2023 Final on September 17th in Colombo. The match started with a bang as Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj had an amazing start. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, had a disastrous beginning as they lost their first six wickets for just 12 runs on the board.

It was Jasprit Bumrah who struck first, taking the crucial first wicket. However, the real magic came from Siraj, who managed to take the next five wickets for a mere four runs.

Siraj’s incredible bowling performance has garnered the attention of Pakistan players Hasan Ali and Kamran Akmal, who both took to social media to express their amazement at his exceptional skills.

Hasa Ali wrote on Twitter, “Take a bow, Mohammad Siraj.”

Indian pace outclasss Sri Lanka’s batting

On the back of India’s pace attack, Asia Cup holders Sri Lanka were mightily outclassed in their own backyard. The Dasun Shanaka-led side folded at just 50 runs in 15.2 overs. Siraj ended the innings with a sensational figure of 21/6. Hardik Pandya helped clean up the tail taking 3 wickets in his 2.2 over spell.

Siraj also broke a few records on his way to the 6-wicket haul. After taking a fifer in just 16 balls, Siraj moves to the joint top of the list with Chaminda Vaas who did the same against Bangladesh in 2003.

India’s brilliant performance would go a long way in boosting their confidence with ODI World Cup 2023 just around the corner.
