Virat Kohli’s down-the-ground six off Haris Rauf in the T20 World Cup 2022 game was termed the shot of the century by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The hit was exclaimed as the ‘shot of an emperor’ by the commentator and has a separate fanbase. Joining that camp is no other than South African spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi, who was bamboozled in his response to the clip of the shot.

Before the consecutive sixes hit against Rauf, India’s winning chances were just four percent. The two smokes over the ropes brought back the team into the game and won the thriller eventually. The gravity of the situation added to the lore of the Virat’s six, and Shamsi stated that it was an ‘unreal shot.’ Replying to the leggie’s tweet, his fellow teammate, Tristan Stubbs pulled his leg by asking the bowler about practicing the shot.

“He had no business hitting THAT BALL over the bowler’s head for 6! Unreal Shot!,” Shamsi wrote in his ‘X’ post.

“Do you practice that shot, I heard you’re an all-rounder,” replied Stubbs.

Here are the Shamsi, and Stubbs’ interactions:

Time for the next generation to take over: Kohli on T20I retirement

The star India batter announced his T20I retirement minutes after India won the T20 World Cup 2024 on July 27 in Barbados. The right-handed batter scored a match-winning 76 runs off 59 balls when the top order collapsed. He was adjudged as Player of the Match and said that he will let the next generation take over.

“It’s time for the next generation to take over. It’s a two-year cycle (for the next T20 WC), there’re some amazing players playing in India. They’re going to take the team forward in the T20 format and do wonders, as we’ve seen them do in the Indian Premier League. I have no doubts that they’ll keep the flag waving high and take this team further from here now,” said Kohli after the game.
