The mega cricket carnival is keeping both the fans and the participating teams on their toes as the exciting Super Eight fixtures kicked off recently. However, with each game, some teams are dealing with some injury woes which may affect their team combinations in the days ahead to come. In a fresh development, the hosts West Indies (WI) have suffered a setback after their batter Brandon King suffered a side strain against England (ENG) in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 fixture in St Lucia, on Wednesday, June 20.

As per ESPN Cricinfo, now it is believed that King can possibly miss the remainder of the mega event. The opener played a blazing cameo of 23 off just 12 deliveries to let West Indies off to a flier against a formidable English bowling attack. Notably, his thrilling knock also included a gigantic 101 metres six which he smacked off pacer Reece Topley through to the midwicket region. As a result, a new ball was brought into the game as a replacement ball.

However, before King could have inflicted more damage to England, he got injured in an attempt to smash Sam Curran’s delivery through the cover area after he danced down the wicket in a bid to dominate the bowler. As a result he walked off the field after facing his 13th ball of the innings to receive further treatment by the medical team of West Indies.

West Indies posted a good total, England seemingly getting near the target

Meanwhile, speaking of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight encounter, after having put a good total of 180/4 on the board, West Indies’ bowlers bowled well to contain England to play in a vigilant manner.
However, after a few good overs and picking crucial wickets of Jos Buttler and  Moeen Ali early on in the innings, it has been Phil Salt and Jonny Bairstow’s show as the duo have put the scoring rate in the first gear to inch the defending champions closer to the target as they look in a commanding position with 141/2 on the board in 15 overs.
