The match between South Africa (SA) and the co-hosts, the United States of America (USA), will open the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. On Wednesday, June 19, both teams face each other at Antigua’s storied Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound.
After winning four of its eight tour matches and placing first in Group D, South Africa advanced to the Super Eight stage of the competition. However, the USA, who were paired with teams like India and Pakistan in Group A of the competition, came in second.
Quinton de Kock smashed his half-century in just 26 balls making it difficult for USA. In his first over itself, Jasdeep Singh was smashed for 28 runs by de Kock. This proved to be the most costly over for the USA team. He gave South Africa a great start and placed extreme pressure on the USA. In Antigua, South Africa eventually reached 100 in 10 overs.

SA skipper Aiden Markram said, “Doesn’t look too bad. We weren’t really sure of what to do for the toss. Probably we were leaning towards bowling but don’t mind batting first. Extra spinner today for us. Unfortunately Ottneil Baartman misses out purely on conditions, Keshav comes in.”
