Pakistan will look to win their second World title in the shortest format of the game next month at the highly-anticipated T20 World Cup 2024. On Sunday, May 5, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi met the players and announced a handsome reward if they win the coveted silverware at the end of the show-piece event.
Babar Azam-led Pakistan are set to embark on tours to Ireland and England to play the T20I series. This European assignment will serve as preparation ahead of the first-ever 20-team T20 World Cup, which is set to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA in June. Against Ireland, the Men in Green will play three games on May 10, 12, and 14 before heading to England to face the Three Lions in four T20Is on May 22, 25, 28, and 30.
Ahead of their trip to Ireland, Pakistan players were greeted by PCB chairman Naqvi at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. He handed special jerseys to Mohammad Rizwan and Naseem Shah to commemorate a couple of milestones they achieved during the home T20I series against New Zealand. While Rizwan completed 3,000 T20I runs, Naseem picked up his 100th international wicket in the series. Naqvi also announced that if the Men in Green go the distance in the T20 World Cup 2024, each player will receive a 100,000 USD reward.
“Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi announced to give 100,000 dollars prize to every player for winning the T20 World Cup,” the PCB posted on X.

Naqvi also told the players “not to care about anyone” but to just play for Pakistan and demonstrate teamwork, and, “God willing”, victory will be gained by the team. “The country has a lot of expectations from you. You have to fulfil them,” he added.
