Game 20 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 featured a clash between Oman and Scotland at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, on Sunday, June 9. The game began with Oman coming in to bat first after winning the toss.

The side opened with Pratik Athavale and Naseem Khushi scoring 54 and 10 runs, respectively. Aqib Ilyas scored 16 runs on the board, alongside Ayaan Khan, who added 41* runs in 39 deliveries as Oman posted a total of 150 runs in the first innings.

As for Scotland, Safyaan Sharif was the highest wicket taker for his side in the first innings with two wickets to his name. Mark Watt, Brad Wheal, Chris Sole, and Chris Greaves took one wicket each as well to limit Oman to 150 runs.

Aiming to chase down the target of 151 runs, Scotland got off to a good start to the run chase as openers George Munsey and Michael Jones scored 41 and 16 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Brandon McMullen played an unbeaten knock of 61 runs in 31 deliveries, alongside Richie Berrington, who scored 13 runs on the board.

Scotland chased down the target in 13.1 overs and won the game by seven wickets, registering their second win of the tournament, as Oman’s bowling attack failed to put the side under pressure. Bilal Khan, Aqib Ilyas, and Mehran Khan took one wicket each and were the only wicket takers for their side.

The win was Scotland’s second in three matches; the side currently leads their group with five points in three matches. On the other hand, Oman finds itself on the wrong end of the spectrum. The side occupies last place in the group standings with three losses in three games and no points to their name.

It’s gone unnoticed, but Scotland have won so heavily that England are all but out pic.twitter.com/QberhMVjcG

India’s greatest escape shouldn’t deviate you from the fact that Scotland might just have done enough to hand over a group stage exit to the defending champions!!

USA and Scotland making it to super 8’s will be so rewarding!

People watching Oman vs Scotland now are true cricket lovers 🗿 pic.twitter.com/hAqeLVIjEl

For those focussed on New York, Scotland have just chased 151 against Oman in 13.1 overs. They have five points, the maximum England can reach, and have given their net run rate a big boost too. It’s now probable that neither of the 2022 finalists makes it through the group stage

England in a world of bother at the T20 World Cup.

They’re going to need MASSIVE wins against Namibia and Oman to overhaul Scotland.

And they’ll need a favour from Australia, too…

Scotland just need to make sure they don’t lose to Australia by huge margin and hope England win their next 2 with not so huge margin.

Then we can see Defending Champions England getting knocked out from the T20 World Cup 2024. pic.twitter.com/BhMacf7Pvf

While people were busy watching India vs. Pakistan, Scotland have chased down a target of 150 runs in just 13.1 overs against Oman to gain 2 crucial points + a massive NRR boost.

England are in massive trouble of getting knocked out on NRR (realistically).

Elsewhere, Scotland have taken an insane NRR boost by chasing 151 vs Oman in just 13.1 overs!

England are being made to sweat, big time.
