T20 World Cup 2024 Match 43, AFG vs IND Match Preview Head to Head records, pitch report and more

India and Afghanistan (Source : Twitter )

Afghanistan have been clinical in the ongoing T20 World Cup, winning three out of their four matches in the group stage. However, in their last game against West Indies, the Rashid Khan-led side suffered a humiliating 104-run defeat – from which they need to recover quickly and readdress the issues before facing India on June 20 at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran have managed to give the team good starts in most matches but the middle order is yet to come to the party. Gurbaz with 167 runs in four matches is the tournament’s leading run-scorer while Zadran has 152 runs and stands fourth on the list of most runs. Azmatuallah Omarzai with just 63 runs is Afghanistan’s third-highest scorer and that points out Afghanistan’s issue.

The middle order has ghosted so far and that needs to change if they aim to qualify for the semi-finals. Against quality Indian bowlers, it will be a difficult challenge but many of the cricketers have played in the IPL and should know what to expect.

The Rohit Sharma-led side, on the other hand, is undefeated so far. They won against Ireland, Pakistan, and USA in the group stage while the last match against Canada was called off due to rain. They have all the boxes ticked barring a couple but that shouldn’t bother the team massively. The focus will be on Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja as they haven’t contributed much but both cricketers can turn the game at any moment.

Among bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah has been incredible while Kuldeep Yadav is expected to make his return to the playing XI. Axar Patel too has been very effective.
