Most of the Indian Cricket Team players and their big support crew are set to jet off to New York on May 25, but a few will tag along after the IPL final on May 26. Originally, those from teams not making the IPL playoffs were set to fly out on May 21, after the final league match on May 19. But plans have changed, and now the first bunch will depart on May 25.
Only those in the IPL final will stick around, leaving for New York on May 27. This gives them time to shake off jet lag and get in a few good practice sessions before the warm-up match against Bangladesh. The likes of Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Yuzvendra Chahal belong to Rajasthan Royals who are in top-two of IPL 2024. India’s first match in the T20 World Cup is against Ireland on June 5, followed by the big one against Pakistan on June 9.
“The likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel are some of the players along with support staff who are expected to leave on May 25. Earlier, departure date for first batch was May 21 but since India is playing only one warm-up game (vs Bangladesh on June 1), the players will get to spend some extra days at home,” a BCCI source said as quoted by Indian Today.
