T20 World Cup 2024: Indian team unhappy with average facilities in New York

The Indian team is toiling hard in New York ahead of their opening clash at the 2024 T20 World Cup against Ireland on June 5. Notably, the Men in Blue had their first practice session ahead of the clash and the side is not happy with the practice facilities in place.

The team practiced at Cantiague Park, where Rohit Sharma and co. assembled for a net session on Wednesday afternoon. They used three of the six drop-in pitches available at the makeshift venue but were reportedly not satisfied with the arrangements at the venue.

“Everything is makeshift – from pitches to other facilities. Safe to say everything is very average in nature. The team has raised their concerns,” a source in the know was quoted as saying by News18.

It is worth noting the Indian team will take on Bangladesh on June 1 in a practice match, using the Cantiague Park facilities till then. The venue will be used for three of their four group games – against Pakistan, the USA, and Ireland in New York, before they move to Florida to play Canada.

India hope to get off to positive start

The Indian team will aim to get off to a good start to the upcoming T20 World Cup, taking on Ireland in their first game. The Men in Blue have a relatively easy clashes in the first stage of the tournament, with the most challenging match being against Pakistan.

After facing Ireland on June 5, the Indian team will have a short gap as they will take on Pakistan on June 9. India will face off hosts USA on June 12 and end the group stage with a fixture against Canada on June 15.
