England are all set to continue their Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign by taking on the co-hosts, the USA. Both sides will face off in the Super Eights stage of the tournament in match 49 at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, on Sunday, June 23.

England barely made it to the Super Eights stage of the tournament, as their qualification was secured after Australia defeated Scotland in their final group stage game. They got off to a good start to the stage with a win against the West Indies but failed to defeat South Africa in their latest clash. They will hope to turn it around against the Americans on Sunday.

Here is the Predicted ENG XI for Match 49 against the USA:

Openers – Jos Buttler and Phil Salt

England will be expected to open with the dynamic duo of Phil Salt and Jos Buttler. Both batters have had their moments in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Salt will be keen on redeeming himself after a rather short outing for England in his previous game against South Africa, where he was dismissed for 11 runs. He will hope to take some lessons from his 87-run knock against the West Indies and perform once more.

On the other hand, Jos Buttler is one batter who needs no introduction. The skipper has lacked runs in his last two outings for England, scoring 17 runs against South Africa and 25 runs in 22 deliveries against the West Indies. As the clash against the USA approaches, Buttler will seek inspiration from Salt and hope to post a big total on the board.

Middle-order – Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook

The middle order of England could only consist of two batters, Jonny Bairstow and Harry Brook. Bairstow had a forgettable outing for the side in his previous game as well. Dismissed for just 16 runs, the ace batter will hope to improve as well, and a good opportunity awaits against the co-hosts, the USA.

Harry Brook will be expected to accompany Jonny Bairstow. Brook was one of the best batters for England in the side’s recent loss to South Africa. The youngster scored 53 runs in 37 deliveries, hoping to propel his side to a win. He will look to put in a similar showing in the upcoming game as well.

All-rounders – Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran

The English all-rounder line-up is where the team will hope to shine. Veteran pro Moeen Ali will hope to lead from the front; his outing for England against South Africa was subpar. Bowling three overs, Ali conceded 25 runs, took one wicket, and followed it up by scoring nine runs in the second innings. The 37-year-old will hope to utilise his experience in the upcoming game and do better.

Liam Livingstone will be expected to feature once more. The batting all-rounder did not bowl for England in his previous game, but was remarkable with the bat in hand as he struck 33 runs in 17 deliveries in an unsuccessful run chase attempt.

Sam Curran could be the final all-rounder in England’s line-up against the USA. The last edition’s Player of the Tournament bowled three overs in his previous game, where he failed to take any wickets and conceded 29 runs to his name. Furthermore, he stayed unbeaten on a score of 10 runs as well. With the game against the USA approaching, Curran will be expected to blossom as well.

Bowlers – Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley, Chris Jordan

The bowling line-up for The Three Lions could consist of three pacers and one specialist spinner. Ace pacer Jofra Archer will be expected to spearhead the bowling attack. Bowling a complete spell of four overs, Archer conceded 40 runs against South Africa but took three crucial wickets and will aim to do the same in the upcoming game.

Veteran spinner Adil Rashid could be the one player who provides an X-factor to the side. Bowling his complete spell in the last game against South Africa, Rashid conceded 20 runs and took one wicket in the process as well. His spell against the USA will be crucial for England if they are looking to get back on track.

Reece Topley and Chris Jordan could be the final two pacers in England’s arsenal. Topley went wicketless for England in the previous game against South Africa, whereas Chris Jordan did not feature for the side but will hope to get a chance against the USA.
