Ace India batter Virat Kohli has a habit of breaking records, and he did it once more after Day 4 of the ongoing second Test between India and Bangladesh. In a rain-marred clash in Kanpur, India, and Bangladesh finally gathered to continue to play on the penultimate day of the clash.
After India managed to limit the visitors to a score of 233 runs in the first innings, the side came out to bat with an attacking mindset, playing aggressively against Bangladesh’s bowling attack right from the get-go.
After Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma’s good starts, it was Virat Kohli’s turn to take on Bangladesh’s bowlers. The star batter went on to play a knock of 47 runs in 35 deliveries, and in doing so, Kohli became the fastest cricketer to reach the 27,000-run mark in international cricket.
Kohli achieved the feat in just 594 innings, whereas the previous record was held by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved the feat in 623 innings. Kohli has accumulated an impressive 13,906 runs in 295 ODIs, along with 8918 runs in Test cricket. In T20Is, he amassed 4,188 runs before he announced his retirement from the shortest format.
