KL Rahul nursing injury, return doubtful for Third Test against England
Notably, KL Rahul transitioned smoothly to his middle order role as a batter during the first Test of the series between India and England. Speaking of the opening match which was played in Hyderabad, the Karnataka-based batter produced a match-defining knock of 86 runs in India’s first innings. While in the second innings, Rahul did get a start (22 runs) but failed to convert it into a big knock which could have possibly put Team India in the box seat.
As a result, Team India lost the game in what was an absolute humdinger and went down to the wire and the hosts faced a historic first loss at Hyderabad by 28 runs. Currently, KL Rahul is doing his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. Notably the star batter had complained of discomfort in his right quadriceps after which was pulled out of Vizag Test. Thereafter Sarfaraz Khan and Sourabh Kumar got their maiden India call up to the Test side after another star Ravindra Jadeja too suffered an injury. It is still unclear whether Rahul will be able to recover in time for the third Test to be played at Raipur.
