After a disappointing T20I series, hosts Sri Lanka (SL) will take on India (IND) in the 1st ODI of the ongoing limited-overs’ series on Friday, August 02, at the R. Premadasa Stadium, in Colombo.

Both teams will be playing ODIs after a long hiatus, as India will be playing its first game in the format this year. Notably, the Men in Blue played its last ODI in December 2023 against South Africa. The hosts enter the series disappointment of the T20Is where they were unable to win a single match. They would like to leave that behind and start the ODI series afresh, and they are hoping that all the players perform to their potential and upset the opposition.

The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli will be back in action after the high of T20 World Cup win. Additionally, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer also have a role defined within the team, as the former is likely to take up wicketkeeping gloves as well.
