In the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing IPL 2023, all-rounder Krunal Pandya weaved magic in the middle, picking up wickets of Aiden Markram and Glenn Phillps in back-to-back deliveries. Notably, in the 13th over, the skipper first got the better of Markram, who’s known for playing spin exceedingly well. However, the South Africa international failed to decipher Krunal’s spin as the ball turned away sharply to wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock to collect and stump him.
In the very next delivery, Glenn Phillips got completely bamboozled with a peach. The New Zealand international went all out to defend it but failed to make any sort of connection as his off-stump got rattled. With that, Pandya was in a brilliant position to pick up his first hat-trick in the history of the Indian Premier League but the Ahmedabad-born cricketer unfortunately failed as Abdul Samad defended the third ball of the over.
Meanwhile, the home team were under tremendous pressure after losing two quick wickets in the middle. Opener Anmolpreet Singh gave the team a perfect start, but unfortunately, spin wizard Amit Mishra got the better of him when he was batting on 36 runs off 27 deliveries. On the other hand, Abhishek Sharma’s poor form continues as the youngster could score only seven runs in the middle.
Later on, Rahul Tripathi chipped in well, scoring 20 runs off 13 deliveries but like in most of the matches, the flamboyant batter failed to keep up with the start. That’s when skipper Markram stepped up, but with back-to-back wickets, the momentum completely shifted in LSG’s favour.
However, Heinrich Klassen and Aiden Markram kept SRH alive in the game as they would hope to post something close to 180 runs in the first innings. On the other hand, LSG will try to restrict them to 170 runs and register another win in order to improve their standing on the IPL points table.
