The Indian Premier League 2023 has been delivering riveting cricketing action for its fans with every game. The action continued in the T20 extravaganza on Monday, April 24 as Sunrisers Hyderabad hosted Delhi Capitals in Match 34 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Ahead of the fixture, the excitement among fans was at its highest as the game was being seen as DC Captain David Warner’s homecoming as he took the field in Hyderabad where he had played for SRH between 2014 and 2019 before the action was shifted to the UAE where he played his last couple of seasons for the franchise. Before the start of the game, Warner was seen in a jolly mood as he shared a light moment with his former teammate and SRH seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar by touching his feet.

In a video shared by the IPL official Twitter handle, Warner could be seen running towards Bhuvneshwar and hilariously touching his feet before hugging him. Seeing Warner’s antics, Bhuvneshwar and Ishant Sharma couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Warner played for SRH for seven seasons between 2014 and 2021 (barring 2018 when he was banned) and even led them to an IPL title in 2016. The southpaw had mostly been in imperious form batting for his franchise as he won the coveted Orange Cap thrice playing for SRH in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

His successful run with the ‘Orange Army’ ended after the 2021 season when SRH finished at the bottom of the points table and Warner was benched, following which he repatriated with Delhi Capitals in the following season. The southpaw was picked up by the Delhi-based franchise at the mega auction in 2022 for INR 6.25 Crore.

DC scored 144/9 in the first innings

Coming back to the SRH vs DC clash, Warner didn’t have a great outing on his homecoming to Hyderabad as he got dismissed after scoring 21 off 20 balls, getting holed out against Washington Sundar. The entire Delhi Capitals batting continued their disastrous form of the season as they were restricted to 144/9 in the first innings. Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers for his side as he picked 3/28 in his four-over spell while Bhuvneshwarfinished his quota with figures of 2/11.

In the second innings, SRH got off to a steady start in their chase as they were 36/1 after the powerplay with Mayank Agarwal 28*(19) and Rahul Tripathi 1*(3) at the crease.
