Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke suggests India pacer Mohammed Siraj should be fined for appealing for LBWs without acknowledging the umpires. The 2015 World Cup winner believes that behaviour like this disregards cricketing conventions and the 30-year-old pacer should be penalised for it.

The Indian bowling attack has been the talk of the town in Test cricket. One of the best Test bowlers for India is Mohammed Siraj who has had a decent outing in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy with nine wickets from two games. Siraj has emerged as one of the most reliable bowlers for the Indian team, especially in overseas conditions.

The emergence of Siraj in international cricket turned heads. He can take wickets at the top, but recently the 30-year-old pacer has been caught in a lot of drama, especially with Aussie batter Travis Head. There are a lot of experts who have criticized Siraj and one of them is former 2015 World Cup-winning skipper Michael Clarke who had a problem with Siraj’s way of appealing.

“Siraj should be fined for keeping on appealing for LBWs and not asking the umpire, He hits the batter on the pads and just runs down like they’re out. I’m surprised the ICC haven’t fined him because I remember when I was playing, you’d get fined every time,” said Clarke exclusively speaking on Sky Sports radio.

Siraj’s behaviour causes outrage

Michael Clarke was not the only one who was critical of Siraj as other experts have also shown their displeasure with Siraj’s behaviour.

“I’d like to see someone have a little word with Mohammed Siraj. Someone like a Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli  needs to go up to him because that is disrespecting the game and the umpire,” said Mark Taylor on Willow Talk podcast.
