England succumbed to successive defeats in the ongoing Ashes after Australia edged the hosts in a thrilling contest at Lord’s, despite Ben Stokes’s remarkable late assault. An Australian newspaper took a dig at the English skipper after the hosts made their displeasure known regarding Jonny Bairstow’s dismissal. However, Stokes has retaliated with a funny take on the viral graphic used by the newspaper.

Pat Cummins’ side were booed off the field after the controversial stumping of Jonny Bairstow. Following Australia’s victory, several English media outlets, including experts, blasted the Aussies for tarnishing the Spirit of Cricket at the home of cricket. While an agitated Lord’s crowd labelled the Aussies as cheaters, Stokes claimed he’d never try to win the game like his counterparts.

With all the anger and jeers aimed at their players, a renowned Australian newspaper hit back at the English media, taking a jibe at English skipper Ben Stokes with a viral graphic. They used a picture of a child, morphed with Stokes’ head, labelling them as ‘CRYBABIES’. However, the English all-rounder displayed his brilliant sense of humour, compiling a witty reply for the Aussie newspaper.

That’s definitely not me, since when did I bowl with the new ball https://t.co/24wI5GzohD

Leeds ready for a decisive battle between the arch-rivals

With two successive losses in the series, England are staring down at another Ashes loss this year. However, Stokes maintained a firm stance after his side’s narrow loss at Lord’s, claiming that the side are capable of turning things around in the remaining three matches of the series.

Both teams will engage in another intense battle when they square off in the third and decisive Test match at Headingley, commencing on July 6. If England are to turn things around in the iconic series, they need to get one over the Aussies in Leeds.
