The coveted mega cricket carnival T20 World Cup 2024 will be held in the USA and the West Indies and will kick off on June 2. Ahead of the tournament, Rohit Sharma-led team India have landed in New York ahead of their first game of the tournament.
Before the start of the event, the Indian team took part in a photoshoot in their new T20I jerseys for the World Cup. Recently, the ICC (International Cricket Council) revealed the 2023 cricket awards, and many Indian players featured on the list. As part of the photo shoot, the Indian players were awarded their respective caps as they were the recipients of the awards. Star batter Suryakumar Yadav was awarded the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year and T20I Team of the Year cap.
Furthermore, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj received the ICC ODI Team of the Year caps, with Ravindra Jadeja receiving the ICC Test Team of the Year cap. Star pacer Arshdeep Singh was the only player to get the ICC T20I Team of the Year cap.

Team India will aim to end their ICC trophy drought
It is worth noting that the Indian team has been placed in Group A of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Alongside India, four other teams like Pakistan, the USA, Canada, and Ireland are also present in the group. Team India will begin its campaign by taking on Ireland. Both sides will face off at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York on June 5 in the eighth game of the competition.

Furthermore, after their clash against Ireland, India will be taking on arch-rivals Pakistan at the same venue in New York on June 9. India last won an ICC title in 2013 when they lifted the ICC Champions Trophy, and they will aim to break their curse by going all the way and lifting the T20 World Cup.
