South Africa wicketkeeper batter Quinton de Kock scored his third hundred of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Bangladesh on Tuesday, October 24 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The southpaw reached the milestone in 101 balls and registered the second-most number of hundreds in the ODI World Cup for his country.
De Kock’s knock was studded with several remarkable shots as he sent the ball to the boundary on numerous occasions. The southpaw played an exceptional innings of 174 off 140 balls smashing 15 fours and seven sixes in his innings. During his innings, de Kock was seen at his inventive best as he launched Mahmudullah for a six over third man with a reverse sweep during the 22nd over of the innings.
On the fifth ball of the over, the 30-year-old helped a widish delivery on its way for a maximum as he put his inventive strokeplay on display.

De Kock also registered the second-highest individual score for South Africa in World Cup history and also the highest-ever score by a designated wicketkeeper in the history of the tournament. The Proteas batter left behind legendary Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist who scored 149 (104) during the final of the 2007 World Cup against Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, apart from De Kock, captain Aiden Markram (60 off 69) also played a remarkable innings and got involved in a 131-run stand with him after South Africa lost a couple of early wickets. Following his dismissal, Heinrich Klaasen walked in at number five and continued from where he left off against England.

South Africa posted another massive score of 382/5 in their allotted 50 overs. Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the bowlers for his side as he picked 2/67 in six overs while Mehidy Hasan Miraz (1/44, 9 overs), Shoriful Islam (1/76, 9 overs) and Shakib al Hasan (1/69, 9 overs) picked up one wicket each.
