Brook Warne, daughter of cricket legend Shane Warne, wished her late father on his 55th birth anniversary on September 13. She posted a childhood photo of her with the legendary spinner.
Warne, who would have turned 55 this year, tragically passed away on March 4, 2022, at the age of 52. The unexpected loss of this icon to a suspected heart attack in Thailand shook the global sports community. Two years since, the void left by Warne’s absence is still visible, especially for those closest to him.
Brook captioned her Instagram post, “Happy heavenly birthday to you Dad❤️🩹 I love you so much, today will always be your special day! ❤️”

Shane Warne is second highest wicket-taker in Test cricket
Known as one of the greatest leg-spinners in cricket history, Warne’s career was nothing short of phenomenal. Making his debut in 1992, Warne revolutionized the art of leg-spin bowling in an era dominated by fast bowlers. The great took 708 Test wickets, which is the second highest in the overall rankings. In the 50-over format, he had 293 wickets, and over 4,000 runs across formats without a single century.
“Ball of the Century” to Mike Gatting in 1993 is still considered one of the best deliveries and is registered in the history books. Off the field, Warne contributed to cricket as a mentor, commentator, and coach. His leadership skills shined through when he led the Rajasthan Royals to victory in the inaugural Indian Premier League in 2008.
