Sarfaraz Khan goes down on one knee, presents bat to Shubman Gill during Perth training session

India’s training session ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been intense but filled with fun. Many of the cricketers have travelled to Australia for the first time and the team management understands the challenge and is keeping the dressing room light. Meanwhile, on the second day of the practice, Sarfaraz Khan and Shubman Gill were spotted speaking in length and later, the Mumbai-born was also spotted gifting a bat to the youngster.

Rishabh Pant and Mohammed Siraj were also close by during Sarfaraz and Gill’s banter at the WACA Ground nets. In the photo, Sarfaraz was spotted on his knees and handed Gill the bat, which the latter humbly accepted with a smile.

On the other hand, Sarfaraz suffered a blow on his right elbow during the practice session but as per reports, it was nothing serious. The 27-year-old left the nets due to precaution, and the medical team attended him in the middle. He is expected to be back to the nets on November 15, as the cricketer is very much in the scheme of things for the opening Test of the series at the Optus Stadium, Perth.

In case captain Rohit Sharma misses out, KL Rahul is likely to open the batting alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. Sarfaraz meanwhile will be competing for his spot against Dhruv Jurel. The keeper-batter had a terrific time with the bat in the unofficial Test against Australia A and which might inspire the team management to try him in the first Test, starting November 22.

However, the team management hasn’t decided on the playing XI yet. It will depend on Rohit’s availability as well. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan hit a century against New Zealand in the first Test in Bengaluru, and in the next two games, the flamboyant batter failed to make a mark. He would be gunning to get some runs against Australia, as the series will decide India’s chance to qualify for the finals of the World Test Championship 2025.
