Sania Mirza’s sister confirms divorce with Shoaib Malik, requests for respecting family privacy

Former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza’s sister, Anam Mirza, recently took to social media to confirm her sister’s divorce from veteran Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik. The 41-year-old’s marriage to Sana Javed caused controversy as fans questioned his relationship with Sania Mirza.

However, on Instagram, Anam Mirza came forward and confirmed that Shoaib and Sania have been divorced for months. Moreover, she also requested fans to understand their need for family privacy. Besides Anam also clarified that Sania has only good wishes for Malik for his future ahead.

“Sania has always kept her personal life away from the public eye. However, today the need has arisen for her to share that Shoaib and she have been divorced for a few months now. She wishes Shoaib well for his new journey ahead!” Anam Mirza posted on Instagram.

“At this sensitive period of her life, we would like to refrain from indulging in any speculation and to respect her need for privacy,” she added.

Shoaib Malik lighting it up in the BPL

Speaking of Shoaib Malik, the veteran all-rounder is currently occupied with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024, where he is representing Fortune Barishal. Recently, the 41-year-old became the first ever Asian player to reach the 13,000-run mark in T20 cricket. The second overall player, Malik, joined the list alongside former Windies batter Chris Gayle. He recently led the side to a brilliant win against Rangpur Riders in game 3 of the ongoing BPL 2024.

Taking one wicket in the one over that he bowled against Riders in the first innings, Shoaib Malik helped Barishal limit the side to a total of 134 runs and scored 17* runs in 18 deliveries during the run chase, hence reaching the mammoth milestone and helping his side win the game by five wickets. Furthermore, the win saw Fortune Barishal make a big jump and sit in second place in the BPL standings. with two points from one match, the side will hope for a similar performance in their upcoming matches. It is worth noting that Fortune Barishal take on Khulna Tigers in game 6 of the tournament on Monday, January 22.
