Sachin Tendulkar gets Honorary lifetime membership from the Melbourne Cricket Club(MCC) (Source:X/Twitter)
The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) is regarded as one of the prestigious clubs in the cricketing world. Over the years, many greats of the game have been conferred the membership. The most recent to receive it is former Indian stalwart Sachin Tendulkar. The MCC tweeted that the Master Blaster accepted the award for his contribution to the game.
The 51-year-old was perhaps one of the greatest batters to ever grace the pitch. He was known for being a complete batter. There have been 86 people since 1838 who have been given this honorary membership out of which there have been five Indian cricketers as well. The Indian cricketers to receive this honour in 2023 were MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Jhulan Goswami, and Mithali Raj.

“The MCC is pleased to announce that former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar has accepted an Honorary Cricket Membership, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the game,” the MCC tweeted.

The amazing career of the Tendulkar
The career of Sachin Tendulkar lasted 24 years in which he scored 34,357 runs in 664 international matches. It also included 164 half-centuries and 100 centuries. He is still the highest run-getter in international cricket.
Tendulkar was also the highest run scorer in the 2003 World Cup where he was the player of the tournament with 673 runs to his name. He was also the highest run scorer for the Indian team in the 2011 World Cup with 482 runs and made a huge contribution to help them win a World Cup after 28 years.
