The third and final ODI of the series between South Africa and the Netherlands will see the Proteas go all out in their quest for securing direct qualification to the ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in the latter stages of 2023.
The second ODI of the series saw the Proteas register a comfortable victory against the Netherlands. After the Scott Edwards-led side notched up 189 runs on the board through decent knocks by Vikramjit Singh and Teja Nidamanuru, the Netherlands looked hopeful of securing a win against South Africa.
However, the hosts had a different plan in mind as once again Temba Bavuma’s top form came through for the Proteas. Bavuma played an unbeaten 90-run knock in the run chase and was accompanied by Aiden Markram, who scored an unbeaten 51 runs. As a result, South Africa won the game by eight wickets.
The Proteas will be keen on repeating their performance from the second ODI into the third as both sides take on each other at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday, April 2.
Pitch & Conditions:
The surface at the Wanderers Stadium provides a little bit of help for everyone. Where there have been exceptional knocks at the pitch, there have been marvellous bowling spells as well. Considering the Proteas’ form, it should not be a problem for them to clinch a win, but the Netherlands will look to make it a close encounter.
