Defending champions Gujarat Titans will travel to Jaipur as they face Rajasthan Royals for the second time in match number 48 of Indian Premier League 2023 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on 5th May 2023.

Gujarat Titans will come into the contest, after losing a low-scoring thriller against the bottom-placed Delhi Capitals in their previous game, as the batters had a poor outing. With six wins in nine games, they sit happily at the top of the Points Table. Hardik Pandya, though, showed composure in the chase which will make them feel good despite the loss.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, will be heading into the game after getting hammered by Mumbai Indians  after scoring massive 212 in their previous game. Yashasvi Jaiswal registered his maiden IPL century in the previous game. With five wins out of nine games, they are placed at the fourth position in the points table. Since the clash between LSG and CSK saw no result due to rain, the two sides shared a point each and Rajasthan dropped down to the fourth spot.

For GT, Shubman Gill has been the go-to batter, as he has so far aggregated 339 runs in nine games at an average of 37.67, while Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar have managed to score 213 and 205 runs respectively. In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami has been the key performer with 17 wickets in nine games and he currently holds the Purple Cap, while Rashid Khan has managed to pick 15 wickets. GT have performed better as a unit in the IPL 2023.

For RR, Jaiswal has been impressive with the bat at the top, with his runs reading 428 in nine games at an average of 47.56, while Jos Buttler managed to score 289 runs. In the bowling department, Yuzvendra Chahal holds the key with 15 wickets in 9 games. While Ravichandran Ashwin has managed to pick 13 wickets, Trent Boult too is among wickets as he has so far picked 10 wickets in 7 games. RR too have performed better as an entire unit. RR registered their first win over GT, the last time when both the teams met.

RR vs GT Strategy and Match-Ups:

Rashid Khan has been the go-to bowler to tackle Jos Buttler, as he has so far dismissed Buttler four times in 72 balls, while giving away just 50 runs.  Rashid Khan has also picked Shimron Hetmyer twice in 48 balls, leaking 65 runs, and Devdutt Padikkal thrice in just 25 balls.

Yash Dayal has dismissed the in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal twice in just 12 balls while Mohammed Shami has picked Buttler twice in 59 balls, one dismissal came in previous game. Sanju Samson has batted 92 balls against Rashid Khan, scoring 100 runs with one dismissal. Sanju Samson holds the key in the middle-overs to tackle Rashid Khan. Also, GT would probably bring in Yash Dayal in the eleven to counter Jaiswal early on.

For RR, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal hold the key to middle-order battle as the latter has dismissed both Hardik Pandya and David Miller thrice in 55 and 44 balls respectively, while Miller has managed to score 77 runs at a strike rate of 175, but Hardik Pandya has struggled against Chahal, scoring just 48 runs. Sandeep Sharma has picked David Miller twice in 11 balls, one dismissal came in the last game. Samson might go with Adam Zampa in the next game to tempt Hardik Pandya to go for shots early on.
