India’s Champions Trophy 2025 triumph resulted in several of their players rising up in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings, which are revealed every Wednesday. Skipper, Rohit Sharma, who was adjudged Player of the Match (POTM) in the final for his 83-ball 76, rose two places to third position.

With 218 runs in the tournament, Virat Kohli ascended to fifth place. Shreyas Iyer, who notched up a 40-plus score in every game barring India’s Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh, retained his spot at No. 8.

In the bowlers’ rankings, Kuldeep Yadav is up at the third position in the list. Star all rounder Ravindra Jadeja takes up the 10th spot, who finished with an impressive economy rate of 4.35. Notably, Jadeja bowled 42 overs during the eight-team tournament.

New Zealand make solid progress in ICC rankings

The increase in rankings wasn’t just limited to the Indians. Several players from New Zealand, the finalists of the ninth edition of the recently concluded 50-over spectacle, also made impressive advancements. The skipper of the BlackCaps, Mitchell Santner, jumped to second position in the ODI bowlers’ rankings, moving up six places due to several remarkable performances with the ball.

Other than Bracewell, the aforementioned cricketers will now head to India to play for their respective franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The prestigious league is set to commence on March 22, with the opening game between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
