Rohit Sharma invites fans to join Team India for T20 WC victory celebrations in Mumbai

It has been an exhilarating four days for the Indian team and their supporters. From nearly facing defeat in yet another final to a thrilling five-over phase that revitalized the entire narrative, culminating in a remarkable turnaround where India ended their 11-year ICC trophy drought with a memorable victory. The ecstatic scenes and memorable moments from the aftermath of the event have made this week truly eventful.

Then came Hurricane Beryl which swept through the Caribbean, causing a delay in the Indian team and support staff returning to India after their month-long stay in the Americas. Encouraging news has surfaced, especially for the Mumbai crowd, indicating that following a morning meeting with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in New Delhi, plans are underway for an elegant and grand event for the entire squad. Subsequently, they will fly to Mumbai for a noteworthy and memorable celebratory parade on Marine Drive later that evening.

The erstwhile skipper of the Mumbai Indians and hometown hero from Borivali took to Twitter to extend a public invitation to the residents of Mumbai to join in celebrating the team’s victory. It’s anticipated that they’d partake in an eloquent and grand parade on an open bus along Marine Drive, famously known as the Queen’s Necklace, and at the Wankhede Stadium from 5pm onwards.

This venue holds special significance for Indian cricket, as it was where India clinched their last 50-over World Cup during a historic night in Mumbai back in 2011.
