Star Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav is nearing his return to professional cricket. The 33-year-old sustained an ankle injury during India’s T20I series against South Africa and has been out of action for quite a few months.
He led the Indian team in South Africa in the absence of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya in the T20I series, but the injury derailed his future plans. Furthermore, it is also worth noting that he underwent surgery in Germany recently and took to Instagram to reflect on the same.
Posting on his Instagram story, Suryakumar Yadav came forward and cleared up some confusion that the surgery he had was for the sports hernia injury rather than his ankle. Furthermore, he revealed that he is recovering well and is excited to take the field once again.
“Hello everyone, good morning. Hope you all are doing well. Just wanted to clear something. Bit of a confusion I guess. For those who aren’t aware, I was operated for SPORTS HERNIA few weeks back not for my ankle. Road to recovery is going really well. Thank you everyone for all the love and support, see you all soon,” Suryakumar Yadav posted.

The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is looming on the horizon. The marquee tournament is all set to kick off on March 22, and fans will be waiting in anticipation to see star batter Suryakumar Yadav take the field for five-time champions Mumbai Indians once more. However, his participation in the tournament is not confirmed as of yet.
Beginning his road to recovery, the 33-year-old was recently seen batting in the nets ahead of the IPL. There is no doubt that Suryakumar Yadav is one of the most important players for Mumbai Indians, and the team will depend on his performances.
It is also worth noting that the five-time champions will take the field with a different captain in the form of Hardik Pandya, who was traded from Gujarat Titans and made the skipper of the franchise, replacing Rohit Sharma.
