Team India are gearing up for the Asia Cup 2023 which is set to begin on August 31. The Men in Blue are looking at the continental championship to field their actual squad for the much-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup which will be contested at home in October-November.

Meanwhile, young India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who is currently recuperating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru has shared a significant fitness update on star batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Notably, Rahul and Shreyas are recovering at the NCA and are trying to be back in action for the Asia Cup.

The 25-year-old took to his official Instagram account and shared a video of Rahul and Shreyas batting at the NCA. “Loved watching live cricket after long time,” Pant wrote on his Instagram story while tagging both the batters.

Earlier it was reported that if KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will not get fit ahead of the Asia Cup, they might not get a place in the ODI World Cup as well. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) might be looking for their potential replacements in the upcoming event. If the duo made a comeback, though, the team management is doubtful about their performances.

Bumrah to lead Team India on Ireland tour, Pant continues his rehab at NCA

Meanwhile, India receives a massive boost as speedster Jasprit Bumrah is set to make his comeback, as he was named in India’s three-match away T20I series against Ireland which will begin on August 18. The star pacer was sidelined for almost a year, owing to a lower-back injury.

Rishabh Pant has been recovering at the National Cricket Academy following a freak car accident in December 2022. He has been showing significant progress after undergoing serious medical care. In addition, he will not be able to make a comeback and play competitive cricket anytime soon. The 25-year-old, recently, wished the NCA batting coach, Sitanshu Kotak, on his 50th birthday on August 12, thanking him for looking after him in the last few months.
