Musheer Khan reigned supreme on Day 1 of the ongoing Duleep Trophy. He came out to bat in the first hour of the day after Abhimanyu Easwaran departed and since then, he had dominated the day. Wickets fell quickly from one end but Musheer took some time, played to his merit, and bailed India B out of trouble with his century. The team was reduced to 94/7 at one stage and needed something special and that’s when Musheer built a crucial partnership with Navdeep Saini as India B crossed the 200-run mark on the opening day.

The Mumbai batter dealt well against the pace trio of Avesh Khan, Akash Deep, and Khaleel Ahmed, who were sensational in the first two sessions of the day. It was believed that the spin specialist Kuldeep Yadav would trouble him as the day progressed but that didn’t happen as Musheer was very comfortable playing him.

Speaking about his secret in dealing with Kuldeep, Musheer credited his senior teammates Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill for the insights. He stated that the duo helped him understand Kuldeep’s bowling and once the youngster got used to it, he wreaked havoc.

“This is the second time I’ve faced Kuldeep bhai. Rishabh bhai and Shubman bhai gave me insights into which deliveries from Kuldeep would be effective and which ones I could score off. Once I got set, batting became easier,” Musheer was quoted as saying by India Today.

“Playing alongside and against senior players is a great experience. Observing their mindset, confidence, and preparation is helping me grow as a cricketer,” he added.
