As per reports, off-spinning all-rounder from Mumbai, Tanush Kotian, will make his way to Australia on Tuesday. He has reportedly received a call-up ahead of the fourth Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
The news comes after the retirement of seasoned campaigner, Ravichandran Ashwin, which was quite an abrupt one. Ashwin let the news out during the post-match press conference in relation to his decision to call it a day from international cricket.
According to Sportstar, the Mumbai all-rounder will be taking his flight to Australia on Tuesday, December 24. It is assumed that Kotian might be in the reckoning for the remainder of the series. However, those are mere speculations and for now, it is reported that he will be making his way to Australia as a backup.
Kotian has undeniably been one of the best bowling all-rounders in the Indian domestic circuit over the past few seasons. He was a part of India A which toured Australia ahead of the senior team’s tour. In 33 First-Class matches so far, he has picked up 101 wickets, averaging 25.70. His numbers with the bat aren’t that to be overlooked at all. He has scored 2,523 runs, averaging an impressive 41.21.
Notably, Kotian was with the Mumbai squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Ahmedabad during when he received the call-up to be a part of the red-ball setup of India.
