The Indian team is set to be led by Rohit Sharma in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The 37-year-old legendary batter will be playing his fifth ICC event as a skipper. The tournament will be held in Pakistan and UAE with the Indian team’s first fixture against will be against Bangladesh on the 20th of February.

This will be the first ICC event hosted by Pakistan since the 1996 World Cup and the home side will enter the tournament as the defending champions. Though the BCCI has decided that they will be playing on a neutral territory in the UAE due to problems with travelling to Pakistan, according to some reports from News18 it turns out that Rohit Sharma will attend the opening ceremony in Pakistan which is planned by the PCB and will be held on either the 16th or 17th of February.

“Indian Team captain will visit Pakistan to attend the opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy as PCB plans a grand event, marking the return of a mega international cricket event to Pakistan after 29 years,” sources told as quoted by News18.

Speaking of Rohit Sharma’s performance in the last Champions Trophy the star India opener was the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 304 runs from the five matches he has played and had an incredible average of 76. He had scored one century and two half-centuries during the tournament where the Indian team missed out after losing the finals to Pakistan.

Both India and Pakistan are also yet to announce their squads for the upcoming event. India will be playing five T20Is and three ODI’s against England starting from the 22nd of January while Pakistan is preparing for the two-match Test series against the West Indies on the 17th of January and the Tri-series with South Africa and New Zealand which will be starting from the eighth of February.
