The current Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president, Rohan Jaitley, is reportedly leading the race to become the next Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

This potential change comes after recent speculations about current BCCI Secretary Jay Shah’s potential move to the International Cricket Council (ICC) as its next chairman.

The current BCCI Secretary is rumored to be eyeing the ICC chairman position with Greg Barclay, the outgoing ICC chairman, confirming he won’t seek a third term. Shah, at 35, could become the youngest-ever head of the ICC if elected.

According to reports from Dainik Bhaskar, there’s a growing agreement among BCCI officials regarding Jaitley’s candidacy for the secretary position.

Jaitley, son of late politician Arun Jaitley, has been making rounds in cricket administration through his role at DDCA. His potential elevation to BCCI Secretary would be a major milestone in his career.

Meanwhile, the deadline for ICC chairmainship nominations is August 27, and the entire cricket fraternity is waiting for the announcement of the next chairman.

Shah reportedly enjoys substantial support within the ICC board, with 15 out of 16 members backing him, making his election seem like a formality if he chooses to run.

Coming back to the BCCI, while the change may occur at the secretary level, other top BCCI officials, including President Roger Binny, are expected to continue in their roles as they have another year remaining in their terms.
