Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi is likely to take over the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Secretary, Jay Shah as the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). During ACC’s meeting in January 2024 in Bali, it was decided that Shah would get an extension of one year as his term was about to cede. According to Daily Ausaf, Naqvi will reportedly hold reigns of the coveted position from January 2025.

Various reports also suggest that Shah is keen on holding the Chairmanship of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and will potentially contest for the same. ICC had conducted the meeting in Colombo a few weeks before and the news of Shah’s contention was kept tightly enveloped. Previously, Narayanaswami Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar were the only two Indians to have had the privilege of being the chairman of the Apex Council.

BCCI hesitant to send Indian team to Pakistan

Before the Asia Cup 2025, the whole world has set its eyes on the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to be held in Pakistan in February 2025. India have not provided a green signal to travel to Pakistan owing to security issues and growing geopolitical tension between both countries over the years. However, PCB has assured the Indian cricket board of full security and scheduling of all India matches in Lahore including the semi-final if India qualifies for knockouts.
