Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was absolutely sensational for the Men in Blue in the ODI World Cup 2023. Finishing the tournament as the highest wicket taker, Shami’s performances were key in leading India to the summit clash of the marquee event.

However, a new report has come forth that states that the 33-year-old played through the World Cup with a chronic heel issue and that he played through the tournament by taking pain injections.

“Shami has a chronic left heel issue. A lot of people don’t know that he took injections regularly during the World Cup and played the entire tournament through pain, but you must understand that as you grow older, recovery from each niggle or big injury takes that more time,” a Bengal teammate was quoted as saying by News 18.
