Reports: Jasprit Bumrah to begin his rehabilitation process at NCA

Pacer Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back spasm in the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. After bowling in the first innings, he straightaway went for scans and did not turn up for the second innings. Subsequently, the concern over hit fitness caught immense fire, and his availability for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 was much speculated.

As the reports about him potentially missing the league stages of the Champions Trophy grabbed the spotlight. However, as per the latest developments,  Bumrah’s recovery is progressing well. He is expected to begin his rehabilitation by this weekend, at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suggested that given the medical team clears him, Bumrah may get included in the Champions Trophy squad.

“Bumrah is just fine and getting better with time. He is very eager to play in the Champions Trophy,” a source revealed.

“Bumrah’s rehabilitation will be handled with utmost care. His inclusion in the Champions Trophy will depend on his progress and medical assessments at the NCA,” a BCCI official stated as per Cricblogger.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah recently took to his social media handle and quashed all the rumors surrounding his fitness. Besides, Team India will commence their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with the first game against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International Stadium. It is worth noting that, after the Indian government refrained from sending the player to Pakistan due to security issues, Dubai was chosen as the co-host of the event to hold all India games.
