Reports- Fakhar Zaman to be let off with reprimand following code of conduct breach (Source – Twitter/X)
Star Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman is reportedly going to be let off with just a reprimand after he recently breached the PCB’s (Pakistan Cricket Board) code of conduct. Furthermore, he is also expected to be included in the board’s central contracts list along with getting called up to the national side.
It is worth noting that Zaman recently posted a tweet defending Babar Azam after the latter was dropped from Pakistan’s squad. The tweet saw the board issue a show cause notice against Fakhar; however, the 34-year-old sent out another tweet replying to the notice. In the same vein, the PCB is reportedly looking to form a committee that would be looking into the reply that was sent out by Fakhar. Notably, Fakhar Zaman was left out of the PCB’s central contract list for 2024/25 and was not picked for the upcoming Australia and Zimbabwe series.
“Fakhar’s reply is apologetic and he has expressed remorse. Internal discussions between the PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, selectors, and new captain, Mohammad Rizwan bode well for Fakhar,” a source was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
“He is most likely to be first included in the squad for the SA white ball matches and will then be added to the central contracts list. Rizwan and the selectors agreed that Fakhar was still required for the white ball squad especially with the Champions Trophy tournament being held in Pakistan early next year,” the source added.
Pakistan set to take on Australia next
Speaking of Pakistan, the side is all set to tour Australia for their next white-ball assignment. Both sides will lock horns across three ODIs and three T20Is. With Mohammed Rizwan announced as the new skipper of Pakistan’s white ball team, he will be expected to lead Pakistan for the Australia tour.
