Bangladesh fast bowler Jahanara Alam has made a strong comeback since introducing a remodelled action ahead of the Women’s Asia Cup. The 31-year-old looked impressive during the Dhaka Premier League, in which, she finished as the leading wicket-taker, with 25 scalps to her name. The remodelled action helped her increase pace, which is one of the reasons behind the cricketer’s success in recent times.
Jahanara credited coach Mohammad Salahuddin for helping her get back to form. She was dropped from the national squad in May 2023 and since then, Salahuddin worked on her, helping her make an international comeback. She has been named in Bangladesh’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and speaking about the same, the pacer stated that she is ready to give her all.
“I have returned to the national team after a long year and all the praise goes to Allah and during this one year I have trained at Masco academy for nine months. Sheikh Salahuddin Sir and other coaching staff who were there have worked really hard with me and have tried to improve my performance,” Jahanara said in a statement provided by BCB on Friday, July 12.
“In fact, in every moment I have tried to be prepared so that whenever the call comes from the women’s national team, I can grab the opportunity. In the last Premier League, I have shown a good performance as well, and you can say it was the result of the long training I have done for nine months. So, overall the feeling is really good as I will be able to represent Bangladesh once again,” she added.
No one can raise question about her dedication level: Salahuddin
Coach Salauddin lauded Jahanara and stated that no one can question her dedication and the effort she puts into practice. He added that Jahanara’s pace was not up to the level of international cricket, and he was happy to help her with that, and added that the pacer can now create an impact at this level.

“No one can raise question about her dedication level because she used to visit here [Masco Academy] regularly though it is far from Dhaka, and she did all these things as she wanted to do something better,” Salahuddin told Cricbuzz.
“We tried to increase her pace because the pace she was bowling didn’t look good enough to be effective at the international level. We also tried to provide her with a better game plan so that the ball is more effective and emphasized on the tactical side of her bowling,” he added.
