Mayank Yadav has been spitting fire whenever he is handed the ball. The pacer was just two List A games old when Lucknow Super Giants picked him to be part of their bowling arsenal in the Indian Premier League 2022. However, he had to be benched during the season and a hamstring injury ruled him out in the subsequent season. But he seems to have made up for the lost time by making his enthralling spells in the IPL 2024.
The 21-year-old made his intentions clear when he debuted for LSG against Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. The right arm pacer clicked 155.8 kph during his outing. While the batters could not afford even an eye-blink when he armoured with the ball, he just came all guns blazing against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 2. The youngster recorded 156.7 kph on the speed gun against Cameron Green on the first ball of the eighth over.
With this ball, Yadav has also risen to the top of the pace charts for the IPL 2024. The 21-year-old has not bowled the fastest ball of the IPL 2024 at 156.7 kmph.
Here’s another pace delivery that got Cameron Green’s wicket in the same over:

Mayank rattles RCB’s middle order at Chinnaswamy
Mayank started RCB’s downfall in the true sense at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday. He bowled a 151 kph short of the length delivery to Glenn Maxwell. The batter who is used to playing on the fast-paced Australian pitches could not judge the quick ball and played a late pull only to get holed out at mid-on by Nicholas Pooran.
He continued his top-quality pace bowling when Cameron Green was at the crease. There was pace and there was Mayank who rattled the timber via a good-length ball that nipped back in as Green looked helpless. His last victim of the night was Rajat Patidar, as he fell for the pace playing a pull shot with no control on the stroke. The ball top-edged and flew straight to Devdutt Padikkal at deep-backward square leg. He now has the most 150+ deliveries and he has not even bowled over 50 balls.
