In the 15th match of IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will host Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Both teams have just one win so far but Lucknow Super Giants have played two matches compared to RCB’s three.
RCB will be playing their third consecutive match at home in this encounter. In the last two games, they defeated the Punjab Kings and lost to Kolkata Knight Riders. LSG have played two matches so far, and the results have been contrasting.
In their first match, LSG failed to chase the 193 set by Rajasthan Royals after managing just 173 in Jaipur. In their first home game in Lucknow, LSG put up 199 and restricted Punjab to 178 to set up a win with a margin close to the one they lost to.

The last time these two teams met, it was in Lucknow where RCB put up an inspiring performance to defend just 128. But, what is more interesting is that in the reverse fixture at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, LSG chased a seemingly daunting target of 213 which still remains the highest total successfully chased in the ground.
M Chinnaswamy Stadium Pitch Report
The M Chinnaswamy Stadium has always been known for its flat nature and high scores. So far this season, it seems like the surface has been slowed down to a 180-pitch rather than the expectant 190 or even 200. But again, there seems enough batting firepower in these teams to go beyond the expected 180-185.

In the 90 matches at this stadium, only 37 have been won batting first, KKR’s mockery of the 182 that they were set has not helped the optimism of those condemned to defend a total here.

RCB vs LSG Strategies & Match-ups:
Even in its slowed-down nature, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium is flat enough where out batting your opponents is a valid strategy. And as Andre Russell and Vyshak Vijaykumar successfully showed, the slower ball possesses enough strength against the batsmen who will threaten to land hits far back in the stands.

Player Battles to Watch Out For:
KL Rahul vs Mohammed Siraj:
Across six innings, KL Rahul has scored 96 runs at a strike rate of 181.13 while being dismissed once. Given that Rahul will most likely be facing Siraj with field restrictions, the possibility of this record-extending even more into Rahul’s favour is very high.
Virat Kohli vs Ravi Bishnoi:
As is customary of any Virat Kohli battle with spinners, Kohli has not gotten out many times to Bishnoi but hasn’t scored very fast either. With just one dismissal, Kohli has scored 36 runs in 41 balls against the leg spinner. While this is customary to Kohli’s game, it may spell trouble at some point.

X-Factors for RCB vs LSG:
Royal Challengers Bengaluru:
Virat Kohli has been in some form, holding the Orange Cap and scoring back-to-back fifties at the same stadium. If he can continue his run-scoring the way he has been as prolifically so far, RCB’s cause will be helped especially with their other batters blowing hot and cold.
Lucknow Super Giants:
Nicholas Pooran who was instrumental when LSG chased down 213 at this very ground last year, will again be raring to go against the same opposition at the same ground especially when he showed some very good signs in the first two games.
